From March 5 to July 19, 2026, Palazzo Pallavicini hosted Ruth Orkin – The Illusion of Time, a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the great American photographer, a leading figure in 20th-century photography.
The exhibition featured 187 photographs, two historic cameras, and original documents, retracing Orkin’s artistic journey and exploring her innovative relationship between photography and cinematic language.
The show also included the iconic photograph American Girl in Italy, along with the Road Movie and From Above series, as well as portraits of prominent figures such as Albert Einstein, Marlon Brando, Robert Capa, Alfred Hitchcock, and Orson Welles.
The exhibition was curated by Anne Morin and organized by Pallavicini srl in collaboration with diChroma photography, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna, FIAF, and AIRF.
