Big news and international flair during the days of Arte Fiera

Open Space 2027 kicks off with major, extraordinary news. The event lights up at the moment of Bologna's peak cultural intensity, during the intense days of Arte Fiera, when the city becomes an international crossroads for collectors, curators, industry professionals, and enthusiasts from all over the world.

For this new edition, the project becomes even more ambitious: the art galleries will take over the entire route through the magnificent halls of the Palazzo, offering a total exhibition experience. Among the highlights is the entire Photography section, masterfully curated by Vittorio Schieroni.

But that's not all: this year the roster of exhibitors goes beyond national borders and opens up to the global scene with the arrival of prestigious foreign names, such as the gallery Palm 3 from France and Musa Málaga Exclusive Experiences from Spain.

The best of the contemporary Italian scene

Enriching this prestigious international setting will be a circuit of Italian excellence: Open Space 2027 expands its offering by hosting the country's best contemporary art galleries, keenly attuned to spotting and representing the most sought-after emerging artists on the scene.

Among the protagonists of this edition, leading regional spaces and national excellences will take turns, creating a unique dialogue between painting, sculpture, and new trends. Taking part will be:

• • AD Gallery (Florence), Artàporter (Turin) and Human Connection Gallery (Pietrasanta), leading voices in contemporary research;
  • Artequadri (Padua), Colossi Arte Contemporanea (Brescia) and Galleria Vico Spinola (Savona), well-established names in the field;
  • Studio Berné (Legnano), San Polo Art Gallery (Venice) and Galleria Gallerati (Rome), who further enrich the exhibition landscape with different languages and approaches;
  • The dynamic offering of Bicio Garage (Budrio) and the originality of Officina Amadesi (Ozzano dell'Emilia);
  • The visions of PianoB (Ravenna) and the historic research of Zanini Arte Contemporanea (San Benedetto Po);
  • Playing host, the Bologna-based Galleria De Marchi and Wikiarte Gallery

The Special Projects

A further gem of this edition will be the Special Projects, which this year further expand the top-tier offering. Room will be given to the works of Luigi Sforzini, a Bologna-based artist selected directly by Pallavicini Srl for the strength and quality of his expressive research, who will enrich the exhibition path with an exclusive focus.

Alongside him, the project signed by Julian T. The artist arrives in Bologna on the wave of extraordinary international success, fresh from his prestigious participation in the 2026 Venice Biennale, where he represented the National Pavilion of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Completing the path is Attilio Melfi, the protagonist of a curatorial project signed by writer Carmen Nolasco, dedicated to a selection of works that recount an intense and evocative pictorial research, in which urban landscapes take on a striking, cinematic dimension.

Three exceptional presences offering a not-to-be-missed opportunity to get a close-up look at some of the most interesting and current languages on the contemporary art scene.

A cultural platform open to the city

Not just exhibitions, but also in-depth exploration and engagement: the Open Space 2027 program will be enriched by a packed calendar of talks and guided tours of the stands and the wonders of the Palazzo. The project thus develops as a true cultural platform capable of activating deep relationships between the works, the artists, and the historic architecture that hosts them, generating an ongoing dialogue between memory and the present. The halls of Palazzo Pallavicini are transformed into a fascinating field of experimentation, where the contemporary engages in dialogue with a strongly distinctive setting, giving rise to new readings and unexpected visual tensions.

With the goal of making culture accessible to everyone and encouraging broad, inclusive, and cross-cutting participation, admission to Open Space will be completely free, upon registration either directly at the entrance desk or via the online form.

A privileged observatory on the dynamics of contemporary art, once again offering itself as a living space for encounter, discovery, and sharing in the heart of Bologna.

Vittorio Schieroni - Curator, Photography Section, Open Space

Vittorio Schieroni, curator and art critic, was born in 1982 in Pavia, and lives and works in Milan. For years he has curated and developed art projects in close collaboration with trade fairs, museums, and galleries, contexts in which he pays particular attention to contemporary photography.

In 2012 he founded MADE4ART - a space for communication and services for art and culture based in Milan, in the heart of Brera. In 2020 he launched the art and culture website ARTSTART, taking on its direction.

He boasts numerous collaborations and professional experiences with institutional, public, and private organizations, including Institutions and Universities such as the Museum of Archaeology of the University of Pavia, ABI - the Italian Banking Association, and IULM - the Free University of Languages and Communication, art galleries such as Amy-d Arte Spazio, Belyaev Art Gallery, and CLAG! Factory, the trade fairs Milano Scultura - Step Art Fair, PaviArt in Pavia, and Open Space in Bologna, and foundations and art studios such as The Boga Foundation and Daniele Scanga Art Designer.

Also active in literary and writing-related pursuits, he has written and published articles, reviews, interviews, critical essays, poetry collections, and novels that have met with great success among readers.

Palazzo Pallavicini

In the heart of Bologna's historic center, Palazzo Pallavicini is one of the city's most fascinating historic residences. Its origins date back to the 15th century, and over the centuries the building was expanded and transformed until it took on its current elegant appearance, enhanced by the spectacular monumental staircase designed by Paolo Canali and the magnificent frescoes by Giovanni Antonio Burrini. The residence of the noble Pallavicini family, in the 18th century the Palazzo was a lively hub of European cultural and diplomatic life, hosting prominent figures and the famous 1770 concert by the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Today Palazzo Pallavicini is one of the city's main exhibition venues, offering a rich program of exhibitions dedicated to the great protagonists of international art and photography, combining the charm of its own history with a constant focus on contemporary culture.
